I have been writing down each “Veneration of Shri Guru” in my journal. It has been my practice to read the words, listen to them spoken aloud by Ami, write them down, and then read them again. As I do this, I experience a feeling of deep reverence and respect arising within me. It is reverence for Shri Guru’s state of vast, expansive, pulsating oneness with the Absolute.

With each day’s phrase, I have felt that I was coming to better understand the nature of the Guru. I have also felt that this process of learning about my Shri Guru has been enabling me to become more of a disciple. It has been deepening the bhava, the attitude of discipleship, within me and helping me to experience the state of a disciple.

During the night of Gurupurnima, I had a dream in which I entered a beautiful room filled with a group of people who shone as brightly as angels. When I walked into this room, I sensed something approaching me from behind. It was pure energy that felt warm and blissful. This energy embraced me so completely that I merged with it. I had never experienced anything quite like this before. It was indescribably beautiful.

When I read today’s “Veneration of Shri Guru,” I realized that I had experienced “Shri Guru’s love.” I am deeply moved and full of gratitude. I understand that “Shri Guru’s love” knows no bounds and nourishes me endlessly with its abundance.

“Shri Guru’s love” is for me the purest and the most selfless form of love. It is the rarest of blessings. The more that I experience it, the more that I long for it. A tiny drop of shri guru prema makes my heart pure and frees me from my limited perceptions. It is my biggest support, and it is my goal.

For me listening to “Veneration of Shri Guru” each day is a mystical experience that instantly brings me deep into my heart. I enjoy listening to each new phrase as well as the words from the previous days.

Each of the sacred phrases is so intimately connected to my precious experience of Shri Gurumayi, to my inner transformation over the last four decades, and to the eternal sacred bond between me and my Guru. I feel each word deeply rooted in my being with a fountain of love rising from within.

These phrases show me whom I am becoming, day after day, year after year, through my sadhana, the recitation of Shri Guru Gita—which is suffused with these sacred terms—and through the Guru-disciple relationship.

I am moved by the infinite generosity of my beloved Guru, who changed my ordinary life into a blessed and sacred journey.
